I was completely surprised when Matt proposed to me. Upon arriving home from work one day I discovered a single rose lying on the counter along with an envelope addressed to me. At first I had trouble understanding how it had gotten there; since there appeared to be no one home, Matt's car was not in the driveway, and, being a medical student, he almost always got home hours after I did. Confused, I opened the envelope and found a sheet of paper with "Because you are beautiful..." written on it, along with a clue describing the whereabouts of another envelope. As I went from location to location in our home retrieving these envelopes, each containing a simple, direct statement of Matt expressing his love for me, I realized that he was asking for my hand in marriage. Tears streaming down my face, I eventually made it to the last location and found a ring box under a chair in our living room. "Matt," I called out. There was no answer. Unable to contain my excitement, I opened it, but like the house, it too was empty. "Matt?" I asked again. Puzzled I stood up and as I turned around, he was behind me, on one knee with the ring in his hand.

We wed on a magnificent November day last year and have been enjoying married life since.
