I Love a Man in Uniform!

View book. It's true that you find the one you're meant to be with when you're not looking. I was just having a casual dinner when a
friend asked Jim to join us. From the moment he sat down at the table, he made me feel comfortable. I could tell that he was
a genuine, kind, and laid-back guy - and I liked his sense of humor. After I left the restaurant and got home, I called my
friend and asked her if Jim was single. She laughed and said, "Hold on, Jim's on the other line asking me for your phone number."
For our first date, we went to a local restaurant/brewery called the Great Dane. We had dinner and then moved to the bar area - where we talked for over four hours! Along with almost everyone in his family, Jim is a firefighter. He invited me to an open house at the station and told me that there was going to be a special announcement to honor his family. When I showed up everything seemed normal. Half of the community was there checking out the fire trucks and learning about fire prevention. Then, suddenly, an announcement came over the loud speaker asking people to turn their attention to the balcony. I looked up and there was Jim, handsome in his Class A fireman's uniform. He unrolled a huge sheet of paper that read: Amy, will you marry me, please? Then he marched down the stairs with roses and the ring in hand, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. I was so excited. All I could say was - yes! We kissed to the crowd clapping and cheering. Of course, we had the wedding at the fire station. It was so great to see our families together. The flowers were beautiful. And I was so excited to walk down the aisle, framed by two red trucks. I promised myself that I wouldn't cry, but when I saw Jim with tears in his eyes, I broke down. But later, at the reception, we were both smiling as we danced to James Brown's I Feel Good. |
