One day in October of 2006, I received a "What to Pack List" from my boyfriend Vince and I was told we were going on a surprise vacation in one week. I was in shock but was very excited. A week later, as we set off for our long vacation weekend, I was still in the dark as to where we were headed. As we drove along the dark Ohio roads, Vince told me that we were going to stay for two nights in a cozy, secluded cabin in the Hocking Hills.

A few hours later, we finally arrived at our cabin, "The Cross Creek." Although it was dark, I could tell it was beautiful. There was even a stream right outside our door! I had always adored the fall and Vince had picked the perfect cabin in the crisp, fall woods of Hocking Hills.

As we walked inside the cabin I was stunned to see a dozen roses waiting for me on the table with a little note that said, "I love you, from Vince." I just couldn't stop smiling! As I investigated the cabin, I noticed a guest comment book that had been left by the management. I curled up on the couch to see what the other guests had to say about this special cabin and Vince told me not to get up. He had another surprise for me.

A moment later, Vince came back with a small, specially wrapped, box. He told me to open it. Inside was a ring box... without a ring. Instead there was a small note that said, "Look Up." Following directions, I looked up at the ceiling. When I didn't see anything there I realized that I was supposed to have looked at Vince, oops! I quickly looked over at Vince and immediately noticed that he had another ring box. It was open, but upside down - I think he was a little nervous. Then he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said, "YES!"

Although I had anticipated that our surprise weekend at Cross Creek would be fun, I never expected that within the first 20 minutes I would become the future "Mrs. Lisa Oddo!" We spent the rest of the weekend shopping, hiking, hot tubbing, drinking wine, watching movies by the fireplace and talking about our wedding plans. It was absolutely amazing.

A little over a year later, after 13 glorious months of wedding planning, numerous pre-wedding celebrations, cake tastings, and lots of love and support from our families, Vince and I were pronounced husband and wife at a beautiful, traditional Catholic wedding ceremony on November 24, 2007 in Cleveland, Ohio. Our wedding colors reflected the fall - my favorite time of year. The Chocolate Brown, Cream and Metallic Rust we had chosen came together perfectly to reflect both the November scenery and the wonderful feel of our weekend at Cross Creek, where Vince proposed!
