Eileen:
I recently made a guest book for my daughter's wedding to her love, Aaron. Katey and Aaron both attended college in Indiana. Their schools were only 30 miles apart. However, they didn't meet until they both went to the Philadelphia Center their junior year. They quickly became friends but didn't begin dating until one year later. They both like to tell slightly different versions of how they met...

Aaron's Version:
Katey saw me in the hotel lobby and when she saw my intoxicating eyes and overwhelming allure she fell instantly in love with me. Although she was dating someone else at the time, she did everything imaginable to return her status to that of a single woman and also to make sure that I was single so that we could be together. Of course I encouraged all of this. To this day she still twitches when I'm not around due to withdrawal from my awesomeness. And, she loves me.

Katey's Version:
Aaron first saw me in the lobby of a hotel and decided that I was so attractive that he just had to date me. Deciding to do anything and everything in his power to get us together, he broke up with his current girlfriend and started sending me a constant string of invitations. After we had hung out a few times, he decided that things were moving too slowly for his tastes so one night he picked me up, carried me out of the bar, kissed me, and told me how deeply he liked me. Soon after that he tricked me into dating him by which time he had fallen so completely and madly in love with me that he hated leaving me even if it was just for a couple of seconds.

Eileen:
Some time later they got engaged. Here's the story, as Katey tells it...

Katey's Version:
Although he is usually an upstanding and honest individual, Aaron's proposal was actually centered on lies. The first lie Aaron told me was that he would not be able to make it to my graduation party, scheduled for the 4th of July weekend, until Saturday afternoon. The second lie was that the ring he had wanted to buy me had been purchased by someone else and that he would not be able to get it for at least another two weeks. To help complete the facade, Aaron enlisted three accomplices, my cousins Tommi, Trevor, and Kristy. My parents also helped out a bit on the day of the proposal. This is how it happened...

Friday night, the day before my graduation party, my parents, Tommi, Trevor, Kristy and I went to a movie. After the movie, Tommi said she wanted to do something with her uncle John, my Dad, and I suggested Dad's famous tour of St. Louis (this is a tour of everything in St. Louis that no one would ever want to see, such as all of the least attractive aspects of the town).

After a quick stop at home to drop off my mom and change clothes, we headed off with my Dad (or Uncle John to Tommi) on our way to the tour. I was surprised when I noticed that my Dad was heading towards The Arch, a 630 foot structure that is actually the tallest national monument. Since The Arch, a very popular and real tourist attraction, is not one of the traditional stops on my Dad's signature tour, I began to get suspicious. It was Fourth of July weekend and all of the streets leading up to The Arch were blocked off so Dad dropped us off and we walked into the park.

There I was with my three cousins walking around the grounds of The Arch in the dark when all of a sudden a police officer on a bike stopped us and told us that the grounds were closed for the night. Trevor took the police officer aside and seemed to have a private conference with him for a couple of minutes. After that the cop disappeared and we didn't come across any other police officers. Since I knew that lots of other people were getting kicked off of the grounds I grew even more suspicious. At this point in time I started complaining. I was wearing four inch wedge heels, my feet hurt, and I wanted to go home. All of a sudden my three cousins took off running for one leg of The Arch. Not wanting to run in my heels, I walked slowly behind them. When I reached the leg of The Arch I walked down the stairs slowly watching my feet. When I reached the bottom of the stairs I looked up and there at the top of the small concrete hill under the arch leg was Aaron dressed up and looking very handsome. I forgot all about my high heels as I took off running towards him up the hill.

When I got to him, I gave him a big hug. When he finally convinced me to let go, Aaron got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was midnight, July 1st 2006. I said, "YES!"

Aaron had always told me that the first time he realized he truly loved me he was standing under the middle of The Arch at midnight. With such a special history, it was the only place in the world he wanted to propose to me.

We were married a little over a year later and have been enjoying married life ever since!
