Start by making a list of your friend's favorite things. To make sure you don't leave anything out, consult mutual friends
and brainstorm together. Include favorite activities, places, foods, colors, hobbies, and people.
After you have created your list, collect pictures of the various items you have noted. Think creatively about the different
features and aspects of each item. What is it that makes each item appealing to your friend? Try to identify these features
and portray them through the images in your book. As you are collecting pictures, it may be helpful to ask friends or relatives
if they can help provide you with pictures of some of the items. Or visit a stock photography site to download inexpensive
pictures of harder to find items, such as distant cities. Many stock photography sites offer wonderful photos for as little
as $1 an image.
If you would like to include paper keepsakes such as a diploma, recipe card, or note, these items can easily be scanned and
saved as high resolution (300 DPI) .jpg images. Once you have scanned and saved these items they can be added to your book
just like any other photo.
When you have collected your pictures, add them to a new folder so that they will be easy to locate and add to your Picaboo
book. If you have many photos for each favorite item, it may be helpful to put them in sub-folders so that you can add all of the pictures
of one item at a time to your book. That way the images that all relate to one favorite item will all be arranged next to
each other in your media well within Picaboo's Edit mode.
As you are creating your "Favorite Things" book think about the specific characteristics of each favorite item and choose a
page layout, font, and background that highlight the important features of each specific one.
When you are finished, you will be able to give your friends or loved ones a one-of-a-kind present that will remind them of
all their favorite things each time they pick it up.
