Kevin McCurdy
Co-Founder & Co-CEO
Since 1995, Kevin has founded or co-founded several Internet-related companies including bamboo.com, Zinio, and Picaboo.
Kevin co-founded bamboo.com in 1995 with college friend Howard Field. Conceived on a napkin over a beer, bamboo.com was started from Kevin's living room and later moved to offices in Palo Alto, CA. Living on little more than cherry cheese danishes and coffee, Kevin, Howard, and lead programmer, 'Jut', developed innovative 360-degree panoramic imaging technology that would form the basis by which bamboo.com would become the world's leading supplier of virtual tours for real estate.
Kevin served as bamboo.com's CEO from 1995 to 1999, playing a key role in developing the company's core product, forging strategic alliances, raising over $25 million of private financing, and completing a successful IPO on Nasdaq. The company would go on to become the world's leading provider of imaging infrastructure for the Internet.
In early 2000, Kevin founded Zinio Systems after he became frustrated that he could not download any of his favorite magazines. Kevin served as Zinio's CEO from 2000 to 2002, where he played a key role in developing the company's award-winning technology, raising over $16 million of private equity financing, and signing up publishers to distribute digital editions of their magazines. Zinio is now the world's leading digital magazine delivery system, with magazines such as BusinessWeek, US News & World Report, Reader's Digest, Premiere, Elle, PC Magazine, and Car and Driver distributed in Zinio format.
