Software Engineer - Reporting Developer

Location: Menlo Park, California

Picaboo is seeking a Software Engineer. Candidates must be familiar with designing, developing and supporting web-based applications using .NET and strong SQL Server skills.

We are currently recruiting 1 Full-Time permanent position.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary resource for designing, developing, and maintaining the company’s internal tools, web-based applications and database reporting needs;
• Works closely with various departments, including Marketing, Accounting and Customer Support, to determine application and reporting requirements;
• Analyze, design and develop reporting solutions to support tactical and strategic information needs;
• Develop and maintain documentation and procedural standards relating to all projects.

Required Skills

• 2+ years of practical experience working with 2 or 3 tiered web applications using C#/ASP.NET;
• 2+ years MS SQL Server 2000/5 T-SQL development;
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills;
• Able to work independently, and do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Desired Skills

•Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services / Business Intelligence suites;
•Experience with OLAP/SQL Server Analysis Services;
•IIS 6.0/ASP.NET production experience (configuring, tuning, maintenance);
•Scripting skills – Javascript, perl, vbscript, python, etc.

Senior .NET/C# Software Engineer

Location: Menlo Park, California

Picaboo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who is eager to work in a high-energy, startup environment. Candidate must be familiar with developing highly scalable client/server software for Windows platform. Experience with consumer-facing products is a plus.

Responsibilities

The Senior .NET Application Developer is responsible for the design and implementation of a high-traffic consumer desktop client/server application. The application is implemented on the Microsoft platform using the .NET Framework (C#). The application developer will be developing core application infrastructure and consumer-facing functionality across all application tiers. The ideal candidate will bring to the team a deep knowledge of various development technologies and frameworks (e.g. Microsoft application blocks, ORM frameworks, service-oriented architecture, UI components, etc.) and will possess strong problem solving skills.

Required Skills

• 4+ years developing client/server Windows .Net applications (C#)
• Knowledge of XML Web Services, .NET Remoting, and client-side network programming
• Knowledge of Windows User Interface Guidelines
• Experience in developing UI using custom controls in .NET
• Strong SQL Server development experience; schema design, T-SQL & stored procedures
• Knowledge and high degree of comfort with development across all application tiers: UI, service layer, business objects, data access, schema/modeling
• Expert in object oriented programming
• Firm grasp of software design patterns
• Must be a senior-level developer; highly motivated and self-managed
• The ability to work closely with technical and non-technical colleagues
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to adapt to changing business goals and employ creative thinking to solve problems
• Preference for agile approach: lightweight documentation, iterative development and high verbal communications in a small but senior cross-functional team environment
• Document infrastructure where applicable
