Where can I download the conversion tool?
You can download the Picaboo conversion tool by clicking here.

Once the Picaboo 2.5 conversion tool is downloaded to your computer, double-click on the file and follow the instructions provided by the installer.

 

What are the requirements to use the conversion tool?
Prior to using the conversion tool please be sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Install Picaboo X on your computer if you haven't done so already.

  • Have Picaboo 2.5 installed on your computer

  • Have Photo Books or 5 x 7 Cards created in Picaboo 2.5 on your local PC

 

What happens to my Picaboo 2.5 books if I don't convert them to Picaboo X?
Your Picaboo 2.5 projects will not change. However, you will not be able to share or order them until they are converted to Picaboo X.

 

Does Picaboo X have the same features as Picaboo 2.5?
Picaboo X contains a ton of helpful new features:

  • Works on PC & Mac
  • Beautiful new user interface.
  • Drag & drop photos & captions anywhere on the page
  • Snap-to grid for aligning your page layouts
  • Sync, which lets you work on your project from multiple computers
  • New Calendar & Card options
  • New book layouts & themes
  • 2 page spreads
  • New Book Styles
  • Auto backup of your projects to our servers when connected to the internet
  • And much, much more!
Picaboo 2.5 features that are not available in Picaboo X:
  • 4 x 8 flat Cards
  • Two-sided printing on flat Cards
  • Page comments when sharing your project
  • Portrait Books
  • "Print at home" (which includes printing to PDF)
  • Soundtrack feature

 

What are the Picaboo X system requirements?
Picaboo X is compatible with Mac OS X v10.6 or newer. If you have a version older than 10.6, we suggest upgrading your system or using a different computer to download and use Picaboo X.

We recommend using a dual core, 1.83GHz or faster processor with at least 1GB of RAM and 200 MB of disk space. If you're using Mac OS X 10.7.2 and experiencing trouble running or installing the program, click here.

Picaboo X is also compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7. With Windows we recommend using a 2.33GHz or faster processor with at least 1 GB of RAM, 200 MB of disk space, and a minimum monitor resolution of 1000x600.

You will likely need a high-speed Internet connection (DSL, cable modem, or LAN-based) when you're ready to upload your Photo Book or Card.

Converting Your Picaboo 2.5 Projects to Picaboo X


What if my Picaboo 2.5 books are no longer on my computer?
Please contact support so we can try to locate and re-store your Picaboo 2.5 books.

 

Which Picaboo 2.5 projects can I convert to Picaboo X?
The conversion tool will convert the following Picaboo 2.5 projects to Picaboo X:

  • Photo Books

  • 5 x 7 folded and flat Cards

Please note that the tool will not convert 4 x 8 Cards from Picaboo 2.5 to Picaboo X.

 

How do I convert my Picaboo 2.5 Photo Books & 5 x 7 Cards?
Converting a project is easy!

  • After installing the conversion tool, click on the associated icon to launch (In Windows, this will be located in the Picaboo folder under the Start Menu)

  • Select the project you'd like to convert

  • Select "Convert To X Project" from the File menu of the conversion tool

Where are my projects stored after conversion?
If you have Picaboo X already installed on your computer, the converted projects will be added to the Picaboo X library.

If Picaboo X is NOT installed on your machine, you'll be asked to save the file (the default will be the Picaboo X projects folder).

 

Are there any known issues with the conversion?
Not all Picaboo 2.5 fonts are available in Picaboo X. In those cases, fonts are converted to Arial. You can choose a new font from within Picaboo X after the conversion.

Some captions may be repositioned during the conversion process. These captions can be repositioned from within Picaboo X.

Some backgrounds (especially solid colors) are not available in Picaboo X. When these projects are converted, if Picaboo X doesn't have the high resolution version, you may see a low resolution warning (the yellow triangle) on your page. This can be fixed by selecting a new background color or image from within Picaboo X.

Will I be able to edit my books in Picaboo X once I convert them?
Absolutely! Your Picaboo 2.5 projects can be fully edited once they have been converted to Picaboo X.

 

Will I be able to order my books in Picaboo X once I convert them?
Yes! You'll be able to order your books in Picaboo X by clicking the Order button when you are ready.
