This week, we took a deeper look at metering, spot metering to be exact. From silhouettes to getting the proper exposure for your subject, you used spot metering in many ways this week!

1. Linda Pierce – What an awesome sunset! The colors in the sky are to die for. I love the lights against the silhouette of the lighthouse.

2. Sarah Annesley-Verhoog- This is such a fun silhouette! I have always wanted to have someone hop on a hale bale and take their picture.

3. Barb Tatum – This is a great example of how spot metering can help you nail your focus! By focusing on the flower in the middle, you create a lot of depth to your photo and the flower pops out.

4. Mary Richards – Look at those baby blues! Using spot metering works well when shooting portraits so that you ensure the eyes are in focus.

5. Elizabeth Bianchi - You could have entered this during Red, White & Blue week! I love the composition of this photo and the placement of the window.

6. Sue Beresford – Love the lighting in this! It’s light and airy. When shooting in full sun with haze, spot metering helps you focus in on those petals.

7. Brandi Bieber – What a great shot of the water droplets! It’s hard to get the focus right on the droplets and expose them properly! Spot metering can help with that.

8. Margaret Young – I really like the lines and texture in that flower! I would probably brighten the photo up a bit but not too much. You don’t want to lose the details!

9. Susan Slattery  –  Love that you caught that bee on the flower! You were also able to grabs some nice bokeh in this one as well.

10. Darlene Willner – The flowers are really blooming this week! I love this shot of the hydrangeas {my favorite flower!} just opening. The crisp green background really helps the pink flowers pop.

11. Colleen Richart – Love that sunflare! By backlighting the leaf, you really showed off the details.

12. Mary Covert-Mason - I absolutely love the simplicity of this photograph. I also love the pops of yellow in the background.

13. Kessie Jennissen – What a fun shot of your furry friend! I love the sun glistening off the water in the background.

14. Debbie Marker – Awesome bokeh! I love all the green tones. Combined with the lighting, it looks really crisp!

15. Tracey Miller – I absolutely love the reflection in the water. Using spot metering helps you expose for the water and make sure that you have proper exposure.
